Relations historiques et anecdotiques sur les anciens traitements par les plantes des maladies infectieuses et parasitaires des animaux
Historical and anectodal activity regarding ancient plant therapy of infectious and parasitic animal diseases
After a short reminder on the specificities of veterinary phytotherapy and on the main transmissible animal diseases, the authors give an account of the real or alleged activities of several plants recommended for healing infectious and parasitic animal diseases in early times.
Recommendations and instructions for the use of these plants are reported. Their possible therapeutic activity is also discussed, with reference to their present use in allopathic or homeopathic veterinary medicine.
The authors then go on to describe the use of some plant derived products (e.g. oil, wine, vinegar) that were used to heal or prevent some transmissible animal diseases.
